The house turned to face the mountain.

549 square metres on two floors. 495 downstairs, where the whole house is. 54 upstairs, an open attic.

That is a decision about where a family lives.

On the ground floor are the 495 m² where everything happens: kitchen, dining and living running together, with nothing dividing the view. The windows go from floor to ceiling, and that means at seven in the morning the mountain is already inside.

The front porch is 31 m². From there you see the mountains, the trees and the distance: they are not a backdrop, they are what you look at every day.

The mountain comes into the living room.

The kitchen is built into the dining and living area, and the laundry is right there, taken care of rather than hidden in a corner.

The dining area is sized for a long table, the kind you use when the whole family arrives.

And there is a separate 21 m² room, for whatever ends up being needed.

Four bedrooms, all four on the ground floor: nobody climbs a staircase to go to bed. Two have their own bathroom and two share one; the fourth sits next to the living areas, for guests, so nobody walks through the private part of the house. And an office of 17 m², with a door.

It sits well away from the bedrooms, so you can work with the house awake.

At the back there are 58 m² of covered porch, and what you see from there is the mountain. It is bigger than the living room of many houses and it is outside: you can spend the whole afternoon there without going in.

The carport for two cars, covered, opens straight into the kitchen.

Upstairs, only what is needed.

Upstairs there are 54 m² of attic with no assigned use: playroom, study, workshop or whatever guest room is needed that year. The house settled everything you use every day on the floor below, and left that space free on purpose.
