The studio · CONIKA
CONIKA is an architectural design and visualization studio based in Pasto, Nariño, Colombia; it works remotely, with projects in Colombia and beyond it.
The origin
Architecture stopped building spaces and started producing content. The house stopped being an extension of the soul and became a stage set, a backdrop where someone goes looking for validation.
The world filled with noise. It emptied of judgement. CONIKA exists for that reason and no other. Not to make more houses, but so that a few of them really do exist.
The judgement
We do not sell design. We hold a way of looking. We attend to one specific discomfort: wanting to live in a place that is an extension of you, and not the dimmed version of something seen on a screen.
We linger on what you will touch every day, and on how the house will look twenty years from now. We prefer what ages well to what impresses on the first day.
Hiring a studio is hiring judgement: someone who decides alongside you, and who, when the shortcut appears, holds to what was decided.
The craft
One judgement, three crafts. Not a list of services: three ways of holding the same way of looking.
Architectural direction
We design the house from beginning to end: from the first conversation to the drawings you build from.
Site accompaniment
We are on site while the house goes up, so the decisions taken there do not drift away from the project.
Visualization
We make the images that let you see the house before it is built. Including when the design belongs to another studio.
The method
Every project begins in a conversation, not in a drawing. Before we draw anything, we read what you want to live in, underneath what you are asking for. From there the work moves in phases, and each one exists to make a decision, not to pile up options.
I · Direction
We settle what presence the house will have once it exists. Intention before form.
II · The Table
We sit down to decide the course. Once only, with the whole project on the table.
III · Distilling
Some decisions survive. Others do not hold once the project starts demanding coherence.
IV · Precision
Measure, material, structure. The project moves into construction detail.
V · Visualization
We build the images that let the house be felt before it exists.
VI · Delivery
The final architectural drawing set, the one your builder works from. Engineering and permits are separate. Our part ends here.
Who we work with
We work with people who arrive with questions, not with plans. With people who understand that their house is a three-year project, not a three-month one. With people who want judgement and not a catalogue of options.
Who we work with is the first decision.
Where
Pasto, Nariño. The studio was born here and operates from here. We work remotely, with projects in Colombia and beyond. We do not list architects and we do not broker between parties. Distance does not dilute authorship: the same hand carries the project, wherever the site is.
